Hello from Koh Tao; My New Favorite Island
A week has passed. I tried not to stress myself to be productive. My second day I met two young Canadian guys and we became fast friends. I’ve joined them for their beginning itinerary, an island hopping journey down to the full moon party; a bucket list event I’m happy to cross off and move on from. It was a packed beach full of vendors selling buckets of redbull vodka for 300 baht (8ish US). The moon is mostly ignored now, or maybe it was just cloudy. People only seemed to look up to watch balloons full of laughing gas zipping above as people let go of them while house, trance, drum and bass, and some pop bumped from the stages looking out onto the beach. There seem to be fire shows on every island every night. After four nights in a row I’m not bored of them at all. Last night there was a fire jump rope going that farangs could jump into. I regret not taking my turn, as today I cut my heel on some coral while snorkeling and won’t be doing much jumping for a few days.
I said bye to my buddies today after celebrating Cameron’s birthday last night. I’m flying to Chiang Mai Thursday to meet up with Owen, and we are going to Pai. I might bring up Laos, our schedule is open.
There’s much left to see, I can’t believe 8 days have already passed. The jet lag has mostly dissipated, I can feel my brain beginning to work again. Somewhat.
